Site TODO List
Several people have requested additional features or changes to the
website. The following is Matt's list of website-related projects that he
intends to complete eventually. The projects in each category are listed in
an order that indicates which will probably be completed first, but they may
shift around as priorities change.
New Features
- Buy/borrow/sell/lend tool
- Members-only "sponsorship deal details" page
- Improved carpool tool
- Forum (for "tech-babble" as Tobias calls it)
- Workout reminder emails
- Workout reminder phone calls (yes, this can actually be automated)
- "Scrolling" month view for workout calendar (uses advanced web
technology that may not work on some older browsers; if you can use
stuff like GMail or GoogleMaps, you should be fine though). This is
hard to put into words, but you'll like it when you see
it (hopefully!).
Bugs
- Workout descriptions do not wrap properly if the browser window is
shrunk. This is a relatively simple fix, I just haven't got around
to doing it yet.
- Internet Explorer apparently fails to "scroll down" and reveal the
bottom of the left menu if the actual page contents are short enough to
fit in the browser window. This is a bug in IE, but there's probably
some way to workaround this on our end...
Long Term Projects
- Open source the code for the site, especially the workout calendar
and related tools, so that it can be used by other triathlon teams.
Before this can happen, I'll have to abstract away the database layer
(the site currently uses MySQL, but should eventually work with
Postgres, Oracle, or whatever else is available), improve the
"theme-ability" of the site so that it will integrate well with other
teams' websites, and package it up for distribution.
If you have other feature requests/bug reports, send them to Matt.
