Meet the Officers 2014-2015 Meet the Officers 2014-2015
Sean Kunis
President (president@ucdtri.com)
:)

Welcome Aggies! I'm Sean, I'm a fifth year (almost done what what) and also the President of the team. I come from a swimming and running background and one day thought, well if I throw a bike into the mix racing will be just that much more fun (annnd I was right!). Also being a nutrition major and loving to eat tons of delicious foods I figured I needed a sport that would let me do this! I have been doing Triathlons now for a few years and hope to work in this field once I graduate, so I know a bit. So feel free to ask me questions about our team, anything triathlon, technique, equipment, food or even just questions because your new to UC Davis. Go Ags!

Stacy LaBounty
Vice President of Membership (membership@ucdtri.com)
:)

Hey Everyone! My name is Stacy LaBounty. I'm a fourth year psychology major and the Vice President of Membership. I come from a running background, and joined the team my sophomore year despite never previously swimming or cycling competitively. In the last few years I have grown to love the sport and the team. If you are new to any or all of the three legs, don't worry! We have an awesome group of athletes who are more than willing to help you improve. If you have any questions about joining the team, don't hesitate to ask!

Ryan Tomasi
Vice President of Training (training@ucdtri.com)
:)

Hey, I'm Ryan. I'm a fourth year majoring in Mechanical Engineering, and this is my third year on the UCD Tri Team. I'm the VP of Training, so my main priority is to make sure everyone has a workout to go to, and in general make training a smoother process for everyone. I joined the team with a background in sprinting and cross country, and running is definitely still my comfort leg. But I've grown to love swimming and biking, and can't imagine a world without training for those legs now. If you ever have a question, feel free to ask me. And if you're thinking about joining the team, do it!

Brandon Reddish
Treasurer (treasurer@ucdtri.com)
:)

Hey, I'm Brandon and I will be the treasurer for the 2014-2015 season. I'm a second year Mechanical Engineer major. I fell in love with the sport of triathlon last year, and I'm excited for another amazing year. I come from a running background and have enjoyed every minute of learning how to not crash on the bike and not drown in the pool. I am happy to answer any question regarding triathlons or life at UCD.

Reed Thayer
Travel Coordinator (travel@ucdtri.com)
:)

I'm Reed Thayer and I'm your Travel Coordinator. My job is to make sure you get to and from races safely, quickly, and cheaply. This year, Nationals will be in South Carolina this year, so be prepared to rack up some frequent flyer points! I am a second-year masters student in Water Resources Engineering and everyone asks me if there will be a Lake San Antonio this year. I started doing triathlons about 10 years ago and then rowed as an undergrad at Stanford. I joined the Tri team at UC Davis last year and have enjoyed being able to still be a student-athlete.

Jesse Taing
Racing Coordinator (racing@ucdtri.com)
:)

Hey, I've been on the team for 3 rotations around the sun and going for a fourth. I'm probably the coolest race director there is. So pretty much as a race director I'll be doing things like helping organizing the aquathlon and triathlon that the team likes to put on. I'm a pretty athletic person if I must say so myself. Occasionally I like to stand up, maybe if I'm feeling extra energetic I'll take a few steps. If you can motivate me enough, I might be willing to go on a run or a bike ride with you. Occasionally you'll see me around the pool watching everybody else swim and envisioning myself swimming. My homies like to call me Antarctica, because I stay cool(Curse you global warming!), but you can call me Jesse.

TJ Song
Racing Coordinator (racing@ucdtri.com)
:)

I was born in Seoul, Korea and then moved to So Cal in 2007; then I ended up in cow town. However, Davis turned out to be a pretty great place to attend college and I got to meet a lot chill people including those on this team. I am one of the race directors for this school year and my main goal is for the aquathlon and the triathlon to run smoothly and be successful. Oh, I might do some cardio here and there also. I like to lift as well as doing cardio so you might see me around at the ARC. If you happen to run in to me at any time, please come talk to me because I would like to get to know people on this team better. Besides doing tri stuff, lifting, and work, I will probably spend my time in the library studying cause of that engineering life.

Aly Rogers
Secretary/WCCTC Rep (secretary@ucdtri.com)
:)

I'm a fourth year UCD Triathlon team member and NPB major, and excited about the coming year! As secretary, my job is to go to team meetings and take notes, so we can remember later what went down. My background is in swimming (distance freestyle) and I can now, after several years of work, perform a convincing imitation of running. In my (limited) free time between class, training, and work, I like to cook and eat delicious food, read or watch movies with fun people, and go hiking and backpacking. I'm almost always happy to do a morning bike ride or swim at a moment's notice.

Meghan Nesbit
Sponsorship (sponsorship@ucdtri.com)
:)

Hi! My name is Meghan Nesbit and I am the Sponsorship Officer for the 2014-2015 school year! I am a second year NPB major looking to go into a Physical Therapy or Physician's Assistant field. This is only my second year on the team and my second year doing triathlons, but I am on my third bike and I love it very much! I am from a swimming and running background. In my spare time I like to go hiking, to the beach, running on Mt. Diablo, biking on Mt. Diablo, and just hanging out doing nothing. I can't wait for a great season! :-)

Josh Pryor
Publicity (info@ucdtri.com)
:)

I'm Josh, I'm a guy who loves anything active, food, and Jesus. My first ever triathlon was just after my 17th birthday and i've been addicted to the sport/lifestyle ever since!

As of October 2014, I've completed 14 various sprint distance triathlons, 7 olympic distance triathlons, and 4 half iron distance triathlons for a grand total of 25. My goal is to finish a full Ironman, and eventually race Kona.

Looking forward to an awesome 2014-15 season!

Michelle Swarovski
Uniform Director (clothing@ucdtri.com)
:)

Hi there! My name is Michelle Swarovski and I am uniform designer cop/officer with Jeremie Showa! I am a physics major(aka undecided as of now) and I am looking forward to help throwing some mean lookin' designs together to get the team into uniforms that of course has a touch of cow in there somewhere. I love the sport of triathlons, and I know one important aspect of the whole tri life is that one must look not only aero, but like the smokin' hot triathletes that we are. Spandex will be the everyday attire because of our team <3

Jeremie Showa
Uniform Director (clothing@ucdtri.com)
:)

Hey everyone! My name is Jeremie Showa and my job is to provide you with pretty cool UCD gear! I have a cycling and running background. Now, for that swim part that everyone loves...This is my second year on the team and I am very excited to meet everyone! If you guys have any questions I'm here!

Brynna Thigpen
Social Coordinator (social@ucdtri.com)
:)

Hey Aggies! My name is Brynna, and I'm a sophomore at UC Davis, originally from the gorgeous town of Santa Rosa. My homie Simone and I will be your social coordinators this year, so prepare yourselves for an EXHILARATING year of bonding and hanging and generally having fun with the triathlon team! I came into Davis with a running background, but swimming and biking are slowly but surely winning me over, and I'm sure they'll do the same to you. :) Here's to an awesome year with UC Davis Tri!

Simone Federici
Social Coordinator (social@ucdtri.com)
:)

Hey guys! My name is Simone Federici, I'm a second year Communication major/ Managerial Economics minor from San Diego. This will be my second year on the triathlon team after deciding that running alone was too painful. As your social coordinators, Brynna and I have the pleasure of planning all the fun stuff so we can create and foster our amazing triathlon family and make some unforgettable memories. This team has meant so much to me and I hope that everyone who joins will be able to experience the joys of tipping over with new clips, questioning life during track workouts, and being suffocated by our wetsuits--all in good company. I love the great outdoors, good conversations, waking up to freedom, my dog Rambo, Friday Night Lights, and the McDonald's dollar menu. When I'm not complaining about the swim leg, I love playing the piano and anything else that will put off studying for a few more minutes. Looking forward to another absolutely amazing year with the UCD Tri Team. YEAUHHH buddy!!!

Emily Erlenbach
Fundraising (fundraising@ucdtri.com)
:)

Hello!! My name is Emily Erlenbach, and I am a second year at UC Davis. I am majoring in Clinical Nutrition and minoring in triathloning! If I do say so, this is the greatest team/ family in the whole wide world. As your fundraising coordinator, I will be making sure we have lots and lots of money for some pretty awesome things. So be prepared to eat a lot of pizza and buy alot of cookie dough, because we will be having many fundraisers. I come from a running background (ran XC and Track in high school), never really having done triathlons before last year. Now, I can swim pretty well and am some what managing to ride a bike (even though the scars on my legs and blood stains on my bike say otherwise). I am SO EXCITED for another awesome year!!!

Doug Gettel
Webmaster (webmaster@ucdtri.com)
:)

Hi everyone! I'm Doug, and I will be the webmaster this year. This will be my fourth year on the UC Davis Tri Team, and my sixth year as a triathlete. I'm a fourth year graduate student in Chemical Engineering, so when I'm not training I'll typically be found running experiments in lab at all hours of the day. I went to UCLA for undergrad, and USC to get a Masters degree before coming to UC Davis. My background is primarily in running, having played competitive soccer most of my life, but I love swimming and biking as well. I'm looking forward to another great season! If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
